In God’s word, we are called to live large. We are the Church and generosity is our privilege. As we seek to be the creation that God intended us to be, He reminds us to live a generous and fruitful life, full of abundance. As we give generously, we live large as God planned.
Generosity is giving more than what is required
Being generous with others helps us release our need to hoard unnecessary physical and emotional things in our lives. It gives us the opportunity to give a little of what God has given us first.
“A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.” - Proverbs 11:25
Generosity is obedience in practice. Whether we are giving the first of what we have or giving above and beyond, Jesus calls us to give with the right heart. He wants us to move from meeting a requirement to giving out of a posture of trust and a place of joy.
“It is more blessed to give than to receive” - Acts 20:35
When you choose generosity as your value, your world becomes larger. There's no other way to experience this than to trust God to bless you abundantly when you not only give back to Him but also give to others. Live large by viewing the world through the lens of abundance and watch God's blessing overflow in your life.
Throughout the week, look for an opportunity to bless someone else. Whether that be through first fruits, percentage giving, a blessings fund or a radical gift. Ask the Lord to help you live a large life through radical generosity, giving more than what’s required.
