PHILIPPIANS 4:4-9
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
No matter the dosage, a prescription is only effective when fully applied. God prescribes us an immeasurable amount of peace, but it’s up to us to consume it daily. The Apostle Paul reminds us that regardless of our circumstances we can rejoice. Whether we find ourselves on the mountaintop or in the valley, God’s peace is higher than our problems and we are able to choose to rejoice in the fullness of His presence. Partial peace is not enough, God’s sustaining peace must be invited into our lives. Let’s invite peace to invade our minds and choose to rejoice. In our rejoicing, we can release our prayers to the God that offers the promise of eternity.
Peace is evidence of a free mind.
While we can’t always control what happens to us, we can control how we respond. Whether celebrating a victory or walking through suffering, we can rejoice always. Peace and gentleness can be ours in the middle of sickness, failure, loss, and grief. When we choose to rejoice, we make space for the fruit of the Spirit to overflow in our lives and praise God no matter the outcome.
Bring all of your stress, anxiety, and fear before God in prayer. According to His word, on the other side of your petitions and thanksgiving, is a promise of peace. You are protected by His peace which guards your heart and mind. God’s peace is higher than any problem, pain or struggle.
Have you obtained peace of mind yet? Or are you still giving God only a piece of your mind? Oftentimes, we give space in our minds to think of all that is wrong and not all that is good. But what is good? God is good, and His goodness is what we are encouraged to dwell on. In addition to prayer, peace also comes from intentional right thinking. You can’t have a positive life with a negative mind. Fight against the negative thoughts that create negative emotions with prayer and the truth of God’s word. You can choose what type of thoughts you focus on. The peace that you need is closer than you know for God is near. Rejoice!
Start each morning reminding yourself to focus on what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy. End the day evaluating the days’ thoughts and filter out what you don’t need moving forward.

VOUS High is youth community of VOUS and we are creating a space for middle schoolers to gather for service every Sunday.
Students will start with worship in the main auditorium and then be dismissed to their junior high space. This will be a moment to connect with other students, hear a message, and then discuss in small groups.
