Have you ever prepared a meal for a friend or parent, that maybe didn’t turn out the best, but your loved -one still affirmed your efforts? Well, we all have a God-given need for affirmation, even though at times we may even feel trapped by past mistakes and disappointments. However, when we give in to grace and find our approval in Jesus, we can rest assured that our Heavenly Father can always be there to remind us that we are valued and appreciated as children of God.
Let God satisfy your hunger for approval
In our relationship with God, it is easy for us to see ourselves as His servants, although seeing ourselves as sons and daughters may not come as naturally. By embracing our identity, as God’s children, we affirm our relationship with God as our Father, enabling us to give our whole heart and our whole lives into His hands without fear.
The way we see God as a Father may be completely different from the way we see our earthly fathers. However, Jesus invites us to talk to God as our father who wants to reveal himself to us. You don’t need to be afraid, or try to impress, He is waiting for you just because He loves you.
Our imperfect relationships can influence how we perceive God. Yet we still have an opportunity for a relationship with our heavenly father. Jesus’ entire mission was to sacrifice his life so that we could be forgiven and united with God. As we accept Jesus as our Lord and savior, we can seek a relationship with our Father who brings healing and restoration in his perfect love.
Take a moment today to examine your relationship with God. Identify the areas in your life that you haven't surrendered to him. Write a prayer and practice trusting God. Remember that he is not a reflection of your earthly father but the perfection of your earthly father.
