When we are walking in darkness moments all we need to do is reach out to Jesus for him to bring the light back into our lives.
“Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance.” - John 20:1
Have you ever felt like you are living in a circumstance or a season that's surrounded by an overwhelming darkness and there doesn’t seem to be a way for light to come in?
It was the third day after Jesus’ death. Mary was probably sad, scared and confused. But in the middle of her sorrow and pain, she decided to get up early in the day while it was still dark and go to the place where Jesus was. And to her surprise, the stone was moved away from the tomb because Jesus had resurrected!
There are moments in life that seem like we have fallen so deep into the darkness of a situation that we can’t even see or think about the light at the end of the tunnel - let alone the light that comes from Jesus. But when we decide to get up in the middle of it, and go to the place where He is, just like Mary, we are going to see a miracle happen in our lives!
Jesus is the light, and when we allow him to step into whatever situation we are going through, the darkness disappears.
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” - John 8:12
Light in the darkness
Darkness is mentioned 175 times in the bible which means that it is very real, but the light of Jesus is the most powerful light in our lives and much more powerful than any darkness. Sometimes we tend to allow life’s darkness to loom over us and forget the fact that we are children of the light and we are called to live in it.
“For you are children of the light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness.” 1 Thessalonians 5:5
When the darkness comes and it surely will, we must remain steadfast in Jesus’ light. It is very easy to forget how powerful His light is in the everyday hustle of life. But if we choose to put Him first, and choose to search for Him early in the day we will be more aware of how His love and light shines and works in each one of us.
So if you are going through a dark moment right now, I want to encourage you to search for Jesus in the middle of it and ask for His light to work in you. You are not alone, He is with you and He has a miracle for your life!
