[lead dropcap="yes"]Generosity is one of those topics that can carry a lot of baggage along with it. At VOUS Church, we've established giving with a generous spirit as one of our core values. We go first with our giving, knowing that nothing great comes from a spirit of obligation. We see generosity as a privilege. We're generous with our time, talents and treasure. God has given richly towards us, and it's our honor to give back to Him.[/lead]Our giving comes as a response of what Jesus has done for us. God “so loved the world and that he gave his one and only son,” sacrificing his son for all of humanity. He was generous to the point of death, and his resurrection set the example of selfless generosity that we ought to walk in on a daily basis.
Generosity Is Our Privilege
Sometimes we are worried and focused more on what we don’t have, than on the value of what we do have. Pastor Rich reminds us that we do not need to have overabundance to be in a position to give. God is able to do so much with whatever we are willing to give for the benefit of others. However small, it is enough for God to use.
"If you've got something left, God can do something more." Rich Wilkerson, Jr.
Generosity is not giving out of obligation, or out of a feeling of guilt. In fact, true generosity starts with stewardship over what you have been given. Good money management and saving are indispensable principles when we give. This practice helps us to continue to be in a position to give. A basic savings plan can make us better givers, better servants, and great stewards.Pastor Rich gives us these principles to live by in order to model your life in a generous way. Tithe without hesitation. Give of your time to serve. Live a generous life. Serve God with generous service, honor and passion.
