NUMBERS 27:1-4 NIV
The daughters of Zelophehad son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Makir, the son of Manasseh, belonged to the clans of Manasseh son of Joseph. The names of the daughters were Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milkah and Tirzah. They came forward 2 and stood before Moses, Eleazar the priest, the leaders and the whole assembly at the entrance to the tent of meeting and said, 3 “Our father died in the wilderness. He was not among Korah’s followers, who banded together against the Lord, but he died for his own sin and left no sons. 4 Why should our father’s name disappear from his clan because he had no son? Give us property among our father’s relatives.”

If you’ve ever seen a heist movie, you know there is an elaborate scheme to steal a treasured piece of art. There are high-tech surveillance systems and trained guards in place to deter thieves who want that one-of-a-kind valuable for their selfish gain. When an object is rare and has immense value, it is always well protected. How much more, then, is a child of God? In Christ we are deemed worthy, we have immense value, and we have security. What is keeping you from knowing your worth? You don't have to project a false sense of security, but you do have to know who’s your greatest protector. As you get to know God, you will realize just how wonderfully made you are. Your security is no longer tied to the things of the world but to your inheritance of the kingdom of heaven.
You are valuable because God was willing to pay Jesus in order to purchase you
When we find ourselves feeling insecure, it is not due to our lack of value. Instead, it is due to our inability to recognize our worth. Rather than falling into a toxic mindset of insecurity, God teaches us the importance of knowing our worth and going after what we know we deserve.
In life we can assess our assets, which can either increase or decrease in value. When you know your value you begin to appreciate. Being grateful for the gifts that you have in any season and protecting them, while also using them to increase those around us, are excellent ways to increase appreciation.
Recognizing our worth is always worth it. We know our God made us fearfully and wonderfully, yet it isn’t always easy for us to believe this. The enemy can often trick us into projecting security, but God calls us to walk in His security as we put our trust in Jesus. For this, faith is required. Value is determined by what someone is willing to pay. We know God saw us as valuable enough that He gave His only begotten son for us. What would be possible if we could see ourselves the way God does? Knowing your worth can help you appreciate your life to better influence the world around you. Knowing your worth propels your future forward, for you are a divine design.
Set aside a few quiet minutes and ask God to remind you just how valuable you are. Then write down a list of scriptural affirmations to speak over your life every day for the next week.
