SCRIPTURE
Matthew 25: 14-18, 24-29 NIV
“Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them. To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. The man who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work and gained five bags more. So also, the one with two bags of gold gained two more. But the man who had received one bag went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.”
“Then the man who had received one bag of gold came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’ “His master replied, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest. “ ‘So take the bag of gold from him and give it to the one who has ten bags. For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.”

In Jesus’ parable of the three servants, we see the rewards that come with wisely stewarding what God gives us and the consequences that occur when we squander it. When we pray to God for a blessing, it rarely comes in the form of a complete miracle. Instead, it comes in the form of a seed, and the responsibility falls upon us to cultivate it under God’s direction. In our diligence and dedication, we are able to reap the harvest we were seeking and find that all that we have sown will be ripe for the picking according to God’s plan for our lives.
The work of God always begins smaller than expected
God blesses us and tells us to be fruitful, multiply and subdue in His kingdom. While our Father in Heaven provides, we must be good stewards with what we have. God is generous and every opportunity He has for us is given in seed-form.
As we gain wisdom of stewardship, we learn in time not to trade what we want in the moment for what God promises in our future. We are given an important choice and must learn how to manage what God trusts us with by giving it the attention and care it deserves.
Your life is a garden like Eden, you can walk and talk with God always, but you need the wisdom to remove the snakes from it. God loves us, and He will give us what we need, but most of the time it appears like a seed. We need to sow, water it and let God increase it. Let’s make sure not to miss the opportunities that God has placed in our lives, even though it looks small or not appealing to us. We see seeds, but God sees potential.
Create a list of gifts/skills/knowledge you believe God has entrusted you with or others have told you possess. Then, find ways and opportunities you can better put them to use.
